How do I get started with Brain Dump?
Download the app from the App Store, tap the record button, and start talking. Your words will be transcribed instantly and saved to your iCloud Drive as Markdown files.
Does Brain Dump work offline?
Yes! On-device transcription works in Airplane Mode on iPhone 12 or newer. Your notes are stored locally and sync to iCloud when you reconnect.
Where are my notes stored?
All notes are saved as plain Markdown files in your iCloud Drive. We don't have a database. You own your data completely.
What about privacy?
Brain Dump uses on-device transcription by default. Your voice never leaves your phone unless you explicitly enable optional AI features.
Can I use Brain Dump with other apps?
Absolutely! Notes are saved as Markdown files, so they work seamlessly with Obsidian, VS Code, Git, Google Drive, and any text editor.
How accurate is the transcription?
It depends on background noise, accent, and vocabulary, so we do not quote a single percentage. You can improve accuracy by teaching Brain Dump custom words in the dictionary settings. See our accuracy testing method if you want to measure it on your own device.
